Community Starts with Family

Growing up, the dinner table and the boardroom table were one and the same for our principle Blake Toncic. Those who worked with the family were quite quickly adopted into it. Surrounded by these individuals and attentive to their teachings of bootstrapping and reinvention, he is no stranger to the benefits of hard work and perseverance.

When done properly, business begins with a foundation of trust. With TONERA, we are trying to foster a greater sense of community by revisiting the fundamentals of neighborhood design. We remember a time when neighbors were friends and people took pride in what they could achieve as a group. We engage with city builders, visionaries and those who challenge the status quo to create places that people want to travel to instead of through. We place focus on the intangible things that make people want to stay in a space. Communal outdoor living spaces; complementary uses, not just mixed uses; and timeless people-oriented design rather than contemporary notions of urban design.
